The Met Gala struck again! This year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” woke up Hollywood’s fashion sense. Stars stunned in custom creations that paid tribute to the theme and the “Garden of Time” dress code. So, who were the best-dressed women in the Met Gala 2024? Zendaya wowed in two looks: a custom Margiela and a vintage Givenchy gown. J.Lo shimmered in Schiaparelli.

Model Adwoah Aboah, soon to be a mom, rocked a red two-piece H&M set.

The silk organza capelet with fluffy tulle ruffles cascaded over a sparkly bralette, all paired with a bubble-hem skirt in red silk taffeta. Aboah went for a sleek bun, bold red lip, and minimal accessories, letting the dress steal the spotlight. Adwoah Aboah emerged as one of the most graceful and best-dressed women in Met Gala 2024.

Alia Bhatt turned heads at the Met Gala in a gorgeous floral Sabyasachi saree.

This was her second time at the event, and she stole the show with her elegant look. The handcrafted saree took over 1900 hours and 163 artisans to create, featuring intricate embroidery, precious stones, beadwork, and 1920s-inspired fringes.

Zendaya wowed the Met Gala with a double dose of fashion by John Galliano.

Her first look was a custom Maison Margiela masterpiece. The emerald and electric blue gown featured a duchess satin corset, organza and lamé fabric, hand-painted metallic details, and an organza bow with an embroidered corsage.

A hand-painted veil hat by Stephen Jones and Tabi pumps by Christian Louboutin completed the look.

But Zendaya wasn’t done! She surprised everyone with a second appearance, this time in a vintage Givenchy dress by Galliano.

This wasn’t just any dress – it was from his very first haute couture collection for Givenchy in 1996.

The dress was sourced from Lily et Cie, a legendary vintage fashion boutique known for its museum-worthy pieces.

She stepped onto the red carpet in a rare Givenchy gown, a true relic from Alexander McQueen’s iconic 1999/2000 couture collection for the French fashion house.

This choice perfectly embodied the “Garden of Time” theme, with Jenner serving as a time traveller awakening a piece of fashion’s past. The gothic-inspired dress commanded attention with its dramatic elements. Regal epaulettes and extensive gold trimmings added a touch of grandeur, while a plunging neckline flowed into a sweeping waistline that created the illusion of a two-piece gown. Long, flowing fabric cascaded down, adorned with delicate beading that swayed with her every step. Jenner kept her hair long and loose, allowing it to cascade down her back and complement the movement of the dress. 

For a touch of modern flair, she opted for minimalist shoes by Australian brand Studio Amelia.

Jennifer Lopez, a co-chair for the 2024 Met Gala, turned heads on the red carpet in a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown designed by Daniel Roseberry. 

Referencing the “Garden of Time” theme loosely, the dress was a sheath silhouette shimmering with a staggering 2.5 million silver foil bugles, resembling butterfly wings according to Lopez herself. For a touch of extra sparkle, the dress was also embroidered with warm silver pearls and rhinestones.

J.Lo completed her glamorous look with a dazzling array of jewellery from Tiffany & Co.

This included a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet, along with a ring in platinum and yellow gold featuring diamonds. A statement piece was the Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock ring, adding a touch of whimsy. 

Finally, a Tyler Ellis champagne clutch finished off the ensemble.

Nicki Minaj brought flower power to the Met Gala with a whimsical Marni minidress.

Inspired by Marni’s spring 2024 collection, the dress was a work of art. 

Made from yellow silk duchesse, it featured hand-painted, recycled aluminium flowers that popped with colour. The unique design mimicked brushstrokes, creating a 3D oil painting effect. Minaj stood alongside Marni’s creative director, Francesco Risso. To complete the look, she sported light pink almond-shaped nails from her Pink Friday press-on line and a matching chain strap clutch by Marni.

The dress, a nod to the “Sleeping Beauties” theme, was surprisingly constructed from repurposed vintage wallpaper.

Moore, who often collaborates with stylist Brad Goreski, embraced a dramatic floral print.

The dress featured hidden boning and structure, creating a corset-like bodice that flowed into a rounded neckline. This technique was mirrored in the skirt, resulting in a dramatic hourglass silhouette. Opting for a classic touch, Moore wore her long, dark hair parted down the middle and incorporated the petal pink from the dress into her makeup. Diamonds completed the look, with a statement necklace and matching earrings.

The list of the best-dressed women in the Met Gala 2024 will be incomplete without mentioning Harris Reed. 

The designer, head of Nina Ricci, arrived in a show-stopping pantsuit. 

The patterned silk ensemble featured a dramatic 3D corset, a flowing train, and a halo adorned with black arrows. This wasn’t a new creation – it debuted in Reed’s “Shadow Dance” collection earlier this year. Beachy waves and a touch of pink makeup completed the head-turning look.

Inspired by sculptor Alberto Giacometti, the dress was a haute couture take on a fit-and-flare silhouette. Made of silk, tulle, and georgette, it featured a corseted bodice and hand-embroidered thorny vines that climbed from the skirt and behind her head, creating a veiled effect. Sheer opera gloves and crystal hip chains added a touch of sensuality, while a giant feather boa completed the drama. Diamonds were Lipa’s choice for accessories, with a statement necklace by Tiffany & Co. featuring an 8-carat diamond as the centrepiece.
